Alshaya has become a byword for trading and commerce in the Arabian Gulf. Since our foundation in 1890, we have become a major player across a variety of sectors, initially in Kuwait and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and more recently throughout the Middle East, Turkey, Cyprus, Russia, Poland, Egypt, Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Between the 1960s and 1970s we expanded substantially, developing distinct businesses in real estate, construction, hotels, automotive and general trading. Today, we have over 14,000 employees who work within our retail division, which started in 1983 with the launch of the Mothercare franchise.

The Alshaya Group is currently divided into four business divisions:
Real Estate : owns and manages a wide portfolio of land and properties, with a special focus on GCC countries

Automotive : includes the exclusive dealerships of Mazda and Peugeot, in Kuwait, as well as distributing Michelin tyres and Mobil lubricants (www.kaico.net)
M. H. Alshaya Co. : M.H. Alshaya Co. is itself divided into a retail division (www.alshaya.com) and a trading division (www.alshayatrading.com) and also owns, or is in joint venture with, a number of other companies, including computer software, advertising, and engineering & maintenance contracting. The trading division is involved in a variety of trading activities in heavy equipment, sanitary-ware, food-services equipment, and building materials.
